A major part of our mission is to work with emerging and existing voluntary and community groups to establish and promote good practice in organisational development.
To that end we offer support to groups irrespective of actual membership status. However we do encourage users of our services to sign up to becoming members of AVA. A membership form can be found below, there are currently no charges involved in this.
However, our membership is important to us as we are constitutionally answerable to that ‘constituency’ at our annual general meeting (AGM). By becoming a member your organisation has a vote in deciding the composition of our governing Board, and can nominate a representative to potentially join that body.
Prospective funders also expect to see evidence of such democratic involvement, and numbers lend weight to our claims of ‘representativeness’ and local ‘voice’.
The more we are supported, the better we in turn can support the local sector!
